Singer, Composer, Lyricist
Andrea Canta, lived in London from 1987 to 1990. During this period, she worked in different musical styles including jazz, latin, reggae and pop, with such individuals as Dill Katz and Lee Perry, among others.
Meeting the Brazilian guitarplayer and composer Paulo de Olivera lead to an intensive collaboration between these two musicians (on tour with the band Axé),resulting in compositions with Portugese, English and German lyrics.
After seeing the cuban performance act, Irakere, in Ronnie Scott´s, London, Andrea Canta decided to visit Cuba.
This first visit of many in 1988, aroused a passion which is apparent in her current CD, "Back to Habana" (Act still unsigned ! ).
Andrea Canta's new recording is a Latin American related fusion between Cuban and Brazilian musical styles with the production of José Luis Cortes, and the musicians of NG La Banda of Cuba.
Andrea Canta lives currently in Germany and Spain. In addition to her live performances with Yemayà (brazilian pop), Nica´s Dream (jazz/funk), Jazmines (salsa orchestra), and 5 Makes Sense (accapella), Andrea Canta works as singer, composer and lyricist for studio productions in the regions of world music, dance, and pop. Along with Nalin and Kane/Motor Music/"Beachball", Andrea Canta achieved international success, in Spain: #1, in Germany: #10, in England: #24 in the charts...
Since 1999, Andrea Canta is working with the Italian production team, Souled Out/Bustin Loose ( Karen Ramirez, Café del Mar, ...).
In spring 2000, her latest single, "Night on Earth" will be released in Europe and the USA. |
